Tesla Model Y is leading the charge in UK BEV adoption – Tesla Maison
According to data provided by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Tesla Model Y isn't necessarily the most popular vehicle in the UK but is certainly by far its top selling battery electric vehicle (BEV).

SMMT released data for May that demonstrated how the all-electric crossover by Mercedes was the most popular BEV and ninth best-selling vehicle with 2,509 sales.

Tesla Model Y was recently named one of the UK's seven best-selling cars of 2023, coming only 3,000 units shy of Ford Puma which holds top position thus far in sales this year.

So far this season, Model Y sales are leading in their region for BEVs.

The UK's BEV adoption rate increased by 58% compared to May of last year and 31.1 percent during the first five months of 2023 versus 2022.

May's best-selling vehicle list included both combustion engine models as well as all-electric versions, so the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders didn't specify which vehicle made the list.
